Old Houses creak, warp, and aren’t always as tight as new construction
…You would look warped too if you were 173 years old!

Remember the blog I wrote a few weeks ago saying that if you are looking for perfection, then perhaps you should order a Grand Slam Breakfast at Denny’s? In older homes, lofts, and warehouses throughout town, there just is no such thing as perfection. Floors are not 100% flat and smooth, nor do they always have a cohesive look. You would probably have to be “New to these parts” to not be able to figure that little equation out.
Some Philadelphia Realtors call it charm. Some call it character. Some say Pre-War…..I call it “Happy 173rd +/- Birthday”. I do not believe that price or value suffers from such imperfections. In fact, many old relics here in town can produce top dollar. In a town that brought you the likes of Betsy Ross and Ben Franklin, history sells, and often sells well. Just look at values throughout Society Hill. My point here is that creaks, old warped floors, irregular plaster mouldings, and ill-fitting bedroom doors do not constitute a defect, nor a reduction in value.
