So, you have finally graduated from college and now you work here in Center City Philadelphia and you just LOVE your fabulous new job….and your fabulous new paycheck, but you currently live in a slightly rural, mostly suburban community an hour outside the City of Brotherly Love where you have lived your entire life. But, maybe those 9 AM office meetings are becoming harder to make due to all that standstill traffic on 76. Or just maybe by the time you get home via the PATCO or AMTRAK train, it’s getting dark and you’re not really in the mood to mow your lawn or trim the hedges. Maybe you have started dabbling in the idea of moving into one of those beautiful Center City Lofts or Condos a few blocks from your office building near Washington Square. I mean, many Downtown Philadelphia Homes offer on site-parking spaces right, and the ones that don’t are never too far from a lot where you could rent a space. Gosh, living so close to work could certainly make your weeks much less stressful…..
…..But, recreationally, on the weekends you really enjoy doing things like horseback riding or even boating and rowing. Maybe you think you can only do those kinds of things in rural or suburban communities. Well, guess what?? You can do all of those things right here in Center City Philadelphia.
For starters, you can dock your boat right at Philadelphia’s Center City Marina, The Pier’s Marina. And yes, you can probably walk there; it’s located right on Columbus Blvd on the Penn’s Landing Waterfront-between Dockside Condominiums and WaterFront Square Condos. They have running water year round and restaurants on site and it is so peaceful and quiet, you won’t even remember you are in Downtown Philadelphia. So instead of spending an hour or more to get home, you can walk down the street and hop in your boat…….sounds a little crazy, huh, but it’s true!!
And on the other side of town here in Center City Philadelphia is Fairmount Park, where believe it or not, you can go rowing AND horseback riding. You’ll love the wonderful views of boathouse row, while rowing in urban Philadelphia and you couldn’t imagine the beauty of the horseback riding and hiking trails of Fairmount Park. And of course you can always do some bass fishing on the lower Delaware or Schuykill.
