The Viking Stove Halo Effect
There is something to be said about showing ability. There is something to be said about high-end appliances. Add those two ingredients together, and Voila!, you have a tight one-two punch that is going to add some significant value to your Philadelphia condominium or loft.
Though the cost of a new stainless steel Viking stove may run you as high as $6,000, I can’t stress enough to condo buyers and sellers the importance of how such an appliance is going to have a “Halo-Effect” on your entire kitchen, and your entire condo for that matter.
People are in awe of such high-end appliances. Be it a Viking stove, or equally impressive, a Sub-Zero refrigerator. It certainly puts a high-end spin on your home when you go to sell your Center City condominium or loft unit.

And it doesn’t matter if you ever use that Viking Stove. Often, when buyers are purchasing a new construction condominium here in Center City Philadelphia, they have an option to pay (a lot) extra to severely upgrade their appliances. They will turn to me and ask for my input. And my input is always the same…..spend the extra money for that super high-end stove or refrigerator.
It doesn’t matter that the buyer is a young 24 year old who doesn’t own a pot or a pan, or has no idea how to boil water….IT DOESN’T MATTER! We are not talking about you… we are concentrating on the person you will eventually SELL your Philadelphia condominium or loft to!
We are talking resale here, dummy!
I don’t give a crap if you are never home, have eight restaurants outside your front door, or you are a vegetarian who doesn’t eat cooked food! It is not about you… it is about resale! The high-end appliances you purchase can gloss over the fact that you have no closet space, your bathroom is small, or your view is limited to a degree. Having an impressive kitchen can overcome and compensate for a variety of limitations that your Center City condo might have. Because everyone knows how impressive high-end appliances like Viking, Bosch, Wolf, Sub-Zero, and Miele are.
It’s not about the steak. It’s about the sizzle!
Expensive appliances have a lot of sizzle behind them. And when is a stainless steel Viking Stove going to go out of style? Not in your or my lifetime, I would guess. So, if you have the option, spend the money, upgrade your appliances, and allow such luxury items to cast a lovely light over your entire Philadelphia condo or loft home!
